Who is a Candidate for Medical Weight Loss in Clearwater, FL?

Did you know that over 45 million people in America try going on a diet every year? With as many obese people in the nation, that makes sense. Unfortunately, about half of those people fail to meet their weight loss goals. Often, it's because the diets they choose aren't focused on making them healthy - they're only about quick, unhealthy weight loss.

In reality, most diets don't work in the long run. The best way to lose weight and keep it off for good is with practical, healthy lifestyle changes. That's where physicians and other weight loss professionals can help. Unlike fly-by-night diets, medical weight loss has been proven to be effective.

But how do you know if you're a candidate? Let's take a look at five common signs you need medical weight loss treatment.

You're 100 Pounds over Recommended Weight

While it's true that about 42% of the U.S. population is considered overweight, not everyone needs a weight loss program to follow. However, if you're more than 100 pounds over the recommended weight for your height and age, medical weight loss might be the best option for weight loss.

Other Diets and Weight Loss Methods Failed You

Are you at your wit's end because you've tried every diet under the sun, only to make minimal to no progress? Millions of other Americans are going through the same problems you're experiencing. At Nutrifi40, we work with many different patients, many of whom come to use exasperated because nothing they try works. You may be tempted to give up, but we encourage you to consider a medical weight loss clinic for help.

Normal Activities are Hard or Impossible

One of the most challenging aspects of being obese is that everyday life gets much more complicated. Yes, trying to fit into regular clothes is probably off the table, but so are ordinary things that require minimal effort. Simple tasks like carrying groceries from your car into your house are extremely difficult. Other activities, like walking upstairs in a friend's home, are out of the question.

You're Ready to Make a Change

Something has to change if you've been living with extra weight for a long time and you're sick and tired of living an unhealthy, unfulfilling life. Are you ready to heal your body and make fundamental changes? If you are, we've got great news - Nutrifit40 is prepared to be the partner you need to achieve your weight loss goals. The first step towards achieving a healthy weight and, by proxy, healthy life is to actually take that first step. If being fed up with how you look and feel is enough motivation to get started, pat yourself on the back. You're already making progress!

You Have Health Problems Due to Obesity

Medical weight loss is about much more than aesthetics or vanity. It's about preventing or reversing weight-related health issues that put your life at risk. Once you cross a certain threshold, it's hard to get off meds like cholesterol pills, but with medical weight loss, it's possible. If you have any of the following obesity-related health problems, you should consider Nutrifit40:

  • Metabolic Syndromes
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Pre-Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol

FSU's softball success, fans contribute to growth of Clearwater event

The Florida State coaching staff and players have enjoyed an up-close view of the growth of the Clearwater Invitational since its inception in 2019.

What was once a goal to bring together some of the nation’s top college softball teams and play before national television audiences each February has expanded beyond their dreams.

“It was a vision of ESPN, they saw how embraced women’s softball is — it’s a very fast-paced game,” FSU coach Lonni Alameda said. “I think honestly in 2017, 2018 they were thinking a couple years down the road and then they kicked it in earlier than they were thinking because of the excitement for it. (ESPN analyst) Michelle Smith has done a good job, she’s down in that area.

“When you think about the time, it’s basketball season and we’re starting to showcase softball at a pretty high level is special. We all know how cool the sport is. Now everyone else gets to be a part of it.”

When Alameda says everyone she’s not exaggerating. Tickets to the 16-team field, which features 11 ranked teams, have sold out months ahead of time annually and there’s already a need for more seating as the Clearwater Invitational has become one of best February softball tournaments in the nation.

No. 5 FSU (4-1) plays No. 9 Stanford in the first of four games against ranked teams on Thursday at 4 p.m. (ESPNU). The Seminoles will also face No. 20 UCLA on Friday (1 p.m. on ESPNU), No. 4 Georgia on Saturday (10 a.m. on ESPN2) and No. 2 Tennessee on Sunday (8 p.m. on ESPN). Yes, the Seminoles will again close out the event with a showcase time slot.

Texas, Oklahoma State, Washington and LSU are also top-10 teams that will play in Clearwater. The competition is very good, especially early in the season, as a measuring stick for programs.

And often they will face off again in June in the Women’s College World Series. FSU defeated Georgia in last year’s Super Regional, defeated Tennessee in OKC last summer, and the FSU-UCLA matchup will now take place for a fourth straight year.

“A lot of the teams there end up in the World Series or at least a few of them every year,” said FSU second baseman Devyn Flaherty, a native of nearby Sarasota. “We went in there one year, didn’t play great and then made it to the World Series. I know Texas went in there, didn’t play great, made it to the World Series.

“So it’s just super cool to see how you match up against that competition early in the year and then how you grow as a team and get better and then compete later in the year as well.”

FSU fans who can’t make the trip to Tallahassee often make the shorter drive to Clearwater, giving the Seminoles a partisan crowd.

“It’s so cool getting to see the other Florida State fans that may not get to come to our home games,” pitcher Emma Wilson said. “Getting down there in what seems like a home environment for us is really cool.”

One downside of success? The tournament has bleacher seating at the nine-field Eddie C. Moore Complex, but it’s not nearly enough to accommodate fans.

“The hard part right now is we’ve outgrown the facility, we’ve outgrown a lot of things down there already,” Alameda said. “I would say the World Series is kind of the same way. People always talk about why is it in Oklahoma City all the time? We need people to invest in stadiums and fast-pitch and those kind of things in order for our game to continue to grow.”

A Unique Glimpse into Wastewater Management

CLEARWATER (BLOOM) – In a novel approach to community engagement and education, the city of Clearwater and Clearwater Public Utilities are set to host an open house with a twist. Themed around the intriguing concept of “mad scientists,” the event aims to demystify the wastewater treatment process while celebrating National Public Science Day. Scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Marshall Street Water Reclamation Facility at 1605 Harbor Drive welcomes the public to explore the science behind sanitation.

Celebrating Science and Engineering

This event not only marks National Public Science Day but also highlights the critical role of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills in maintaining public health and safety. The city’s wastewater teams, humorously dubbed as the facility’s “mad scientists,” will guide visitors through the plant, showcasing the complex processes and technologies that manage the city’s wastewater.

Tour Details and Safety Information

Tours are slated to last between 60-90 minutes, with departures every half hour starting at 10 a.m. up until 12:30 p.m. While strollers are not permitted on the tour path, accommodations for them near the laboratory will be provided. The tour route, not fully ADA-accessible, may pose challenges for very small children, but efforts to accommodate all visitors will be made. To ensure safety, attendees are advised to wear flat, closed-toed shoes and suitable outdoor attire.

Location and Parking

Visitors planning to attend should set their GPS to 1240 Russell St. to locate the facility accurately. Parking is available in the lot on Russell Street, adjacent to Philip Jones Field, with clear signage directing attendees to the entrance.

A Deeper Understanding of Wastewater Treatment

Richard Gardner, Clearwater Public Utilities Director, emphasizes the importance of educating the public on the wastewater treatment process. He explains how the facility’s skilled staff employ physical and biological processes to efficiently treat water, a task nature would take significantly longer to accomplish. The Marshall Street Water Reclamation Facility, responsible for treating half of the city’s wastewater, processes 12 million gallons daily, underscoring the scale and importance of their work.

The city of Clearwater and its dedicated public utilities teams invite residents to seize this opportunity to gain insight into an essential, though often overlooked, aspect of city operations. For further details or inquiries about the event, interested parties can contact Clearwater Public Utilities at (727) 562-4960.
